Office of the Grand Lecturer
"Uniformity, Consistency, and Professionalism"
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the Office of the Grand Lecturer’s webpage. As this jurisdiction’s newest Grand Lecturer, I am honored to have the opportunity to follow a great Brother, man, friend and mentor in the late R.W. Robert J. Poindexter. He was visionary man well beyond his knowledge and years. As did my predecessor, I will do my best to preserve the institution of Freemasonry by upholding the Landmarks and Ancient Customs entrusted to my care. This important responsibility is not taken lightly and I will devote nothing less than my full attention in executing these essential duties.
I have had the good fortune to study under two prolific, Grand Lecturers, R.W. Kenneth Cloud and R.W. Robert J. Poindexter. I have learned a tremendous amount of knowledge, understanding and a sense of self. I am humbled by the support and continued vote-of-confidence of the many Right Worshipful Sirs, Past Masters and the Brothers of this jurisdiction. I would be remiss if I did not mention William T. Wallace Lodge No. 134. I thank you all for your cooperation as we collaborate to excel.
With the appointment of R.W. Alfred E. Smith, as Deputy Grand Lecturer, we are aware of the impending challenges. However, if we continue to work together in unity, truth and brotherly love, we will conquer any and all challenges whilst overcoming the obstacles! Our motto, as we continue this journey is still “Uniformity, Consistency and Professionalism.” With the assistance of a number of closely scrutinized Assistant Grand Lecturers, we will ensure that every Brother receives information disseminated from “one voice.” My aim is to solidify this jurisdiction on one accord operating under the same Masonic principles and guidance. Ritualistic work should not differ from one part of the state to another. The Lecturer’s staff looks forward to a close working relationship with the Elected Grand Lodge Officers, District Deputy Grand Master’s, the L.O.I. Staff and all other Appointed Grand Lodge Officers to promote a unified message regarding Ritualistic work within the Maryland Jurisdiction. I am confident that these goals will be met, as we have a very talented staff of Lecturers who are committed to the mission.
Finally, the Deputy Grand Lecturer and I would like to truly thank the M.W. Melvin M. Thorpe, Grand Master, for having the faith and confidence to appoint us to this most important duty. Remember always Uniformity, Consistency and Professionalism!
Fraternally,
Right Worshipful Purnell J. Carter, Sr.
