It is with the greatest pleasure that I welcome each of you to the webpage of the M.W.P.H.G.L. of Maryland Grand Lecturer’s Office.  As this jurisdiction’s newest Grand Lecturer I vow to do my able best to preserve the institution of Freemasonry by upholding the Landmarks and Ancient Customs entrusted to my care.  Since becoming a member of the Maryland Jurisdiction in April of 1985, I truly remember those whose shoulders I now stand on.  In looking over my shoulder I can still see R.W.’s Richard White, Prentiss Moore, II, and Kenneth Cloud who have paved the way for me.  I also see the ritualistically astute brothers like Charlie Baxtrom (129), Rufus Grooms (129), and Bill Thomas (129), all great orators and who I have striven to emulate over the years.  I could never forget solid brothers like Donald R. Thompson, George Price, and Ben Brown who truly inspired me as I grew in masonry.

With the new appointment of R.W. Purnell Carter, Sr., as Deputy Grand Lecturer, and I, the challenges are numerous.  Our motto, as we begin this journey will be “uniformity, consistency, and professionalism.”  With the assistance of a number of carefully hand picked assistant lecturers throughout the state of Maryland, we will ensure that every brother receives information disseminated from “one voice.”  No longer will ritualistic work differ from one part of the state to another.  The lecturer’s staff looks forward to a close working relationship with all District Deputy Grand Master’s, the L.O.I. Staff, and the Elected Grand Lodge Officers in putting forth a unified message in regards to Ritualistic work within the Maryland Jurisdiction.

Finally, the Deputy Grand Lecturer and I would like to truly thank M.W. Shelton D. Redden, Grand Master, for having the faith and confidence to appoint us to these very important positions.  We will not let you down.

Fraternally,

Robert J. Poindexter, 33°
Grand Lecturer
